In addition to writing music, Jim also sings in various vocal groups; he is a former member of the early music ensemble, Stile Antico,
and an ad hoc member of the BBC Singers, The Cambridge Singers, Dmitri Ensemble, Ex Cathedra, Musica Beata, and Philharmonia Voices.
He also deputises regularly with the choirs of numerous London churches, including St. Paul's Cathedral and Westminster Abbey.
